working feet

I’ve been polishing the floors the old fashioned way. Here’s how its done.
First you rub the floor boards with crushed branches of a wild shrub called ‘Lanee Roo’. Let it dry.
Next, heat some candle wax with Lifebouy soap(!) Thin the mixture with some diesel. Spread that evenly on the floor.
Final step: Slide along on rags – mine were made of yak hair material – polishing as you go. Quite relaxing, really.
Learnt this technique from two wonderful nuns of Khardung Gonpa.

I don’t know how you keep it up. I tried with hats, and I’m already running out.

We have been really lucky, first ones to admit that.

What do you think?
