My First Scuba Dive at Apo Island
“Do I need to be certified?” I ask Harold. “Will I have someone with me while scuba diving?”
“We’re going to prep you on the way there. You will have an instructor with you at all times,” Harold replies. He was calm and confident. “We will meet here at Harold’s Mansion tomorrow at 8:30 AM.”
“Okay, I just live around the corner,” I reply with a smile.
Apo Island is one of the top ten dive sites in the country and around the world. Apo Island is located near Dumaguete City. It can be accessed via a 30-minute boat ride from the neighboring town of Zamboangita or anywhere near the coastline of Zamboangita.
The Shed aquarium in Chicago, one of Chicago’s tourist attraction have an Apo Island section where you can find sharks, colorful corals, and unique aquatic habitats from Apo Island itself.
