This photo was taken at Maho Beach, which sits just 30-feet from the end of the Julianna International Airport in Sint Maarten.
My wife, who owns and I, planned to come here for two years just for the airplane/beach pictures. While doing a Trans-Atlantic cruise aboard the Carnival Breeze we had the chance to take a cab to this wonderful beach, set up our chairs and wait for the jets to arrive.
While there we also took video and dozens of fun images. This image was taken with my digital SLR Nikon D3100 and Nikon telephoto lens. I had the lens set on wide-angle to get as much of the plane as possible. However, this KLM jet came so low over our heads, about 30-feet or so, I did not move far enough back to capture the entire wing. Previous to this photo I shot several other jets and got the entire plane on film. Next time I know where to stand for each incoming flight.

Amazing!!!
That’s crazy close!
OMG! the pollution would be insane… which kinda negates being purified by the magic of the ocean… no thanks, that’s a no-go for moi!
I hear ya, also must be loud enough to kill your ear drums!
WOW!!!. My boys would love this and to see an airplane fly so close to them. =)
Kids could stay there all day waiting for the next one!
On first look, it seemed as though the woman was holding up the plane with her head! Really cool.
very fast shot
I know, the quality is exceptional.
I’ve been there today !!
Lucky you!
