The photo I am attaching is one of my foot, all dressed up to go out in Manuel Antonio and that’s about as dressy as it gets most days here.
I have a very special guy that sells his beautiful handcrafted jewelry items at the Feria, in Quepos, every Saturday. I love toe rings and have always been intrigued by the chain style “foot” bracelets with the connecting toe ring. I don’t know; I think it may be linked to a past life in Egypt or something.
Having a small foot, however, lends itself to many challenges, such as trying to find a nice heel in the kid’s department because, apparently, it has become out of style for us size 5′s to expect to purchase shoes in an adult store. “Size 5? What’s that? We start at size 6. Maybe you should try Payless.” Which I do and often. So, after purchasing some of my friend’s lovely pieces, I asked if he could make anything like what I was interested in. Without a moment’s hesitation he said yes, of course, although he had not made anything like that before. He measured my foot, Costa Rican style, with his fingers, and told me to return in one week. I went back the next Saturday and although he wanted to make one final measurement so that it would be perfect, twenty minutes later I had this lovely, unique piece of authentic hand made foot jewelry.Voila!
