Sydney, Australia

15 Jan

Early morning crossword at Nielsen Park, Shark Bay on the Sydney Harbour foreshore. Although this beautiful little beach has been “discovered” and becomes very popular during the day, it is at it’s peaceful best early in the morning. We have breakfast and weekend papers on a picnic rug under the banksia trees, followed by a leisurely swim in the enclosed swimming area. A paddle to the shark net, a dive to the bottom, (about 3-4 metres), and a celebratory handful of sand to prove you made it to the ocean floor. Back to the picnic spot for an espresso, and repeat activities until exhausted.

My most recent post has more pix from Sydney harbour. http://pdjpix.wordpress.com

Although one of the hottest days this summer in Sydney we found delightful refuge under the trees right on the beach. The population grew on the beach as the day progressed and many groups of people retired to the shady park just behind the beach. The shark net encloses the swimming area and makes you feel confident that you will return to the beach with all your toes intact.
