Stanford, South Africa

1 Feb
The picture was taken a few months ago in ‘Die Kop’; a little ‘Township’ (“location” as we call it here, an informal settlement) near our village.
My guides were a few little guys who introduced me to their community where I experienced  great hospitality and was amazed how inventive people can be by making something out of nothing. Most children don’t have shoes so if you look around you’ll see plenty of bare feet.

I like this photo as it reminds me of my very humble childhood . Believe it or not I grew up in Central America and we were so poor I didn’t have any shoes to wear. I think I was almost 8 years old before I was given my first second hand shoes and that was awesome !
