Sea is what defines Barcelona, despite its every outstanding features, sea is its soul. Endless and grand; an inevitable evidence of eternity. Standing next to that Sea, you catch your breath and suddenly know that everything will pass and strangely it feels alright. Then you pick up your sandals and barefeet, exposed under that sun walk towards human attempts to reach the eternity. And I have to tell you, if some one has succeeded in it , that was Gaudi. And even incompleteness of Sagrada La Famila can not underestimate it. You inhale the euphoria full of laughter and sunshine, you giggle bumping into tourists, stare at beautiful Spanish women and know that no matter how far the sea is , while you hear it all will be alright.
I honestly miss you, Barcelona and there is nothing more I wish for these days as to end up by your Sea! But I will be back soon. Promise.

I hauled my bag & load of jackets over to the little bin, looking into it with disdain. It DID look really tiny now that I was hovering over it & I’d filled my bag to capacity like the average girl would. Sweating bullets, I hoisted the bag up & slammed it down into the bin, it’s bottom quarter barely edging past the top. The flight attendant was unimpressed. Even with pushing, my bag’s top half remained marooned. Fearful that if I forced it for too long, the flight attendant would deem it too big, I did the only thing I could do.

There are moments when we wish we could freeze time, so that we could relive something wonderful over and over again.
Here’s a private moment, happening in a very public place. As an elderly couple dances to a guitarist’s Spanish serenade, we are reminded of how powerful love can be – and of how, sometimes, friendship can outlast the test of time. It can even inspire onlooking strangers.

Tarragona is a an amazing city only about an hour away from Barcelona. It has perhaps the most impressive collection of Roman ruins outside of Rome itself … and probably 1/16 the crowd. We loved everything about this city. Even our toes were happy.

It had been a long day but it was completely worth it. After walking for hours and hours around Barcelona, we reached this spot, between the Magic Fountain and National Historic Museum in the Montjuic area. The view was so amazing that I couldn’t resist coming back later that night to enjoy a glass of cava and look at the lights.

cassfox writes, “People in Barcelona like dogs in a way I appreciate. You go to LA and everyone has a variation of the same dog and they keep it in their purse. In Barcelona, you rarely saw the same type of dog twice and their owners don’t treat them as an accessory for their Gucci handbag.
Big, small, long hair, short hair, bull-dog, spaniel – the dog world was well represented. I sat on a park bench watching this little guy for a while. His owner was hanging out with friends on her front sidewalk and the pup made certain he was in the center of it. Little dogs have no sense of their own size. With some, we can say they have a Napoleon complex, but others, like this guy, really seem to be calmly going about their business, completely oblivious to the fact that they couldn’t catch much more than a rat, if trouble struck.
Doesn’t matter. He had real character. I can’t have a dog but I wish my cats would sit outside with me and keep an eye on the neighborhood, but that won’t happen anytime soon.”
