Emily writes, “This photo was taken in Atlanta, GA after the official launch party for 50 Cents. Period., a nonprofit dedicated to raising money to provide sanitary products to girls in rural India who normally miss school during menstruation because they cannot afford supplies. It only costs 50 cents to provide a girl with a month’s worth of sanitary supplies. For our first “Red Party,” we decked the house in red tulle and polka dots, dressed in red, drank red wine and bloody marys, and ate red velvet cupcakes and tandoori chicken. The funny thing is, we never talked about coordinating toenail polish. But as “The Women in Red,” as we project organizers call ourselves, put our feet up after the party, we realized that every single one of us had painted our toenails red for the occasion.”
Best of wishes on this very worthy cause!
