Just stumbled upon your blog. Here’s a recent shot of my daughter’s sweet three-year-old toes happy in the sand in English Bay.

I remember the days when I scanned a playground and the only thing that caught my eye would be the swing sets. Nothing has changed, though I do find a field of luscious green grass much more appealing to spend time doing nothing on.
The adorable little girl in this photo is the perfect balance of precious and divalicious. And the pair of feet belong to a little boy who is just as sassy.
This photo makes me miss the days when a week without a scraped knee would be celebrated (I really like running around, on, and under things, like most kids).
I invite you to join my personal dare to play a game of Grounders the next time we come across a playground. I’ll let you know how it goes, and I would love to hear yours! I think it’ll be quite fun.

This one is 4″ (100 mm) diameter, the feet stick out a bit further. They are turned and carved from Maple.
These are my first carved feet. The local woodturners club (http://www.gvwg.ca/) challenge was to make a turned item with carved feet. Most of such feet are simple stands, but I tried something more complicated for fun.
I was more than a little confused the first time I heard about one of these. Human Book? What other kinds are there? It’s not like elephants have gotten into the publishing business, they don’t have fingers. Then I remembered that thing called ‘Internet’ and was enlightened.
Actually, human books are people, not paper bound volumes, that volunteer to share their life stories, as part of a program launched by the Human Library.
I haven’t had the opportunity to take out a living book yet, but I do love the concept. It reminds me that everyone has a unique and interesting story, and makes me appreciate what a rich, and diverse world we people (and the occasional elephant) live in.

Probably the fastest jumping shoot of all time Alice and I rushed up to her buildings roof top in Vancouver, BC and shot off a quick batch of joyful jumps. I love this one.

“So glad I’ve discovered your fun site. I’ve decided to plunge right in and send the only picture I have of my unladylike, middle-aged toes, (which my very proper mother would have been appalled to see).
This may be the dirtiest picture you’ve ever received…LOL! My favourite toes are sandy ones. This spring day on the shores of the Fraser River in Vancouver, B.C., the sand was so wet and muddy that it sucked the sandals right off my feet!
Fortunately, I do like the feel of squishy sand between my toes…:)”
