Street Art in Bogota
Street art outside a cafe in La Candelaria, Bogota’s old town, in Colombia. The woman is holding up a sign saying “nadie gana” (- nobody wins) below a game of noughts and crosses.

I took this photo after I opened one of my Christmas presents last year, finding a pair of flipflops by the Wayuu tribe, the biggest ethnic tribe in Colombia that inhabits mainly in Guajira, the Northeast corner of the country (also part of Venezuela). They make the most colourful crafts in Colombia and their mochilas fascinate many and have even become a fashion item lately! Amazing stuff!
Those are pretty cool flip flops!

“I like the kids in this photo. It took about 6 or 7 shots to make sure everyone’s face looked good and they were all easily seen. This is the best frame. While I was photographing them, the mother noticed and all of a sudden had all the kids outside and posed them in a group in front of a tree. Luckily, I had my photo. I went over and took two photos of her group of kids lined up, knowing that I wouldn’t like the shots. But, I appreciated her effort in trying to organize a photo for me of what she thought was better. However, this more candid and spontaneous photo was the best.
I live in Cali and have been working on a project in the little village. I will have an exhibit of the photos starting May 24 in Cali. ”
